A split shift is a type of shift-work schedule where a work day is split into two or more parts. StaffAny recommends these two methods to create split shifts so your staff can easily create and see their shifts!

Assumptions:

  • Staff's shift is from 08:00 to 22:00

  • 4 hours break

Method 1: Mega Shift

  • Fill up the shift template with the details: Timing 08:00 to 22:00, with a 4hr unpaid break.

  • Benefits:

    • Easy to create and assign shifts

    • Staff only needs to clock in and out once

Method 2: Split Shifts

  • Create two shift templates separately, with the start times for each shift separated

  • Benefit:

    • The long break can be visualised on Day View

    • Staff is clear when their breaks are

  • Disadvantage:

    • Staff needs to clock in and out twice (one CICO set for each split shift)
